2020 Coral Challenge Cup - Leeds Rhinos 17-16 Salford Red Devils (UK-import)
A FINAL LIKE NO OTHER Supporters may have been absent, but the conclusion to the 2020 Coral Challenge Cup was one packed full of raw emotion. The show-piece event in the Rugby League calendar witnessed Leeds, serial visitors to Wembley, take on Salford, who'd not graced the big occasion for over 50 years and hadn't won the grand old trophy since 1938. It was a game that see-sawed throughout. Tom Briscoe gave the Rhinos an early lead, but the Red Devils hit straight back when Rhys Williams raced clear. Ash Handley edged Leeds back in front at the break but tries from Pauli Pauli and James Greenwood put Salford ahead and within sight of a famous victory with a quarter of the game to go. However, Handley drew Leeds level and, in a tense, final few minutes it was fitting that Luke Gale, wearing the famous number seven shirt adorned for so many years by Rob Burrow, won the game with a dramatic drop goal. Relive the whole of the Final from the tear-jerking emotion of Abide with Me right through to the wild celebrations on the pitch as the Rhinos claimed their fourteenth Coral Challenge Cup success.
