A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector
Christmas songs, from the solemn to the silly, are part of a long tradition in the music business. Artists from all genres – pop, rock, R&B,; soul, jazz, country, and folk – have had seasonal successes with Christmas crooners, some of whom will forever be linked to their famous caroling: No Christmas is complete without Bing Crosby's 'White Christmas', Nat King Cole's 'Christmas Song', and of course Phil Spector's 1963 album 'A Christmas Gift For You'. Though it didn't do well when it originally came out (it was released on the day of JFK's assassination), since then Phil Spector's "Wall Of Sound" approach to some secular Christmas classics has found its way into our subconscious and onto Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Albums Of All Time" list. Let's make this Christmas not a white, but a vinyl one!
