Brenda Blethyn and Warren Clarke star in this six-part British comedy series about a young married couple who have been blessed with a new baby. Shirley Frame (Blethyn) loves her husband Phil (Clarke) and their new baby very much, but something is missing from her life. She feels that as she has been so fortunate in many areas of her life, she should give something back to the community. As Shirley sets about trying to help people - including changing the mind of a man on the brink of suicide, giving marriage advice and teaching a young, illiterate mother to read - Phil begins to feel second best with his wife often bringing home other people's problems.
