Directed by Chris Newby and starring Pete Postlewaithe and Christopher Eccleston, Anchoress is a visually arresting story of religious conflict set in the Middle Ages. After having a transcendental vision, a young girl becomes an Anchoress (a virgin who is walled up in a chamber in the church) and her enclosure gradually begins to threaten the foundations of the whole community.
