Black Angel (1946) / Den Sorte Engel (UK-import)
Roy William Neill directs and co-produces this 1940s film noir starring Dan Duryea and Peter Lorre. When singer Mavis Marlowe (Constance Dowling) is murdered in her apartment, several men in her life become immediate suspects; her alcoholic ex-husband Martin (Duryea), nightclub owner Marko (Lorre) and Kirk Bennett (John Phillips) - with whom she was having an affair - are all persons of interest. When Bennett is convicted of the murder, his wife Catherine (June Vincent) fights to overturn the verdict and his death sentence.
