AVID Roots continues with its Four Classic Albums series with a re-mastered 2CD release featuring one album apiece from Roosevelt Sykes, Willie Dixon featuring Memphis Slim, Otis Spann & Sunnyland Slim, complete with original artwork, liner notes and personnel details; 'Roosevelt Sykes: The Return Of Roosevelt Sykes'; 'Willie Dixon & Memphis Slim: Willie's Blues'; 'Otis Spann: Otis Spann Is The Blues' and 'Sunnyland Slim: Slim's Shout' Following the incredible success of our AVID Roots series which includes such classic blues names as Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Lightnin' Hopkins, Jimmy Reed, B.B King, John Lee Hooker, T Bone Walker, Lonnie Johnson, Reverend Gary Davis, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee and Big Joe Williams we thought it was time to add four more names to our Classic Roots roster. But this time we have thrown a curve ball in the shape of some blues men not known for the classic acoustic guitar that would usually accompany the wandering blues man. For this remastered 2CD set we are featuring four Classic Blues pianists in the shape of Roosevelt Sykes, Memphis Slim (accompanying legendary bass man and blues writer supreme, Willie Dixon on his debut album), Otis Spann and Sunnyland Slim. Our four blues pianists all knew each other well and as you will see from the liner notes often played on each other's albums. They were blues giants, blues friends and blues rivals all playing the same circuits and all trying to make a living playing and recording the blues.
