Bob Dylan - In His Own Words
Not a man generally considered an orator or a raconteur, Bob Dylan more usually lets his music and lyrics do the talking. And - apart from a period early in his career when he adopted a rather facetious and cheeky persona, funny at the time but wisely dropped by his mid-20s - he might be considered a bit of a recluse when it comes to speaking in public or to the media. The contents of this fascinating DVD therefore may well come as a pleasant surprise to many, featuring as it does almost 100 minutes of Dylan in conversation and in interview in which, for the most part, Bob is in a relaxed, charming and - in one clip notably - flirtatious mood, during the 1970s and 1980s. So, as Bob here discusses all manner of topics, from his thoughts on the state of the music business (at the times he is talking), to the confines of religion and the ways of his fans, we glimpse a side of the modern bard often hidden and before now rarely made available.
