Carl Fröhlich's Silent Wagner (UK-import)
Carl Fröhlich directs this biographical silent drama based on the life of composer Richard Wagner. This was the first ever feature-length 'biopic', and with a running time of 82 minutes by far the longest film of the early silent era, and starred Guiseppe Becce (who went on to become a well-known and extremely prolific composer in his own right) as the great German composer. The film traces the story of Wagner's life from his childhood through to his great triumphs in orchestral and operatic music.
