For the first time together, all three releases of Cecilia Bartoli's unique Steffani project are being presented as a gift package, marking a lasting tribute to a first rate composer and inspirational performances. In autumn 2012, the world's best-selling classical artist, Cecilia Bartoli, launched Mission, an album almost entirely composed of world premiere recordings, showcasing the music of little-known Italian composer Agostino Steffani. The triumphant release drew rave reviews and was followed up in September 2013 with Steffani's Stabat Mater, comprising his greatest sacred works for chorus, orchestra and soloists, and a further disc of dances and overtures with the celebrated I Barocchisti conducted by Diego Fasolis. On the Stabat Mater, Bartoli leads an array of internationally celebrated singers including countertenor Franco Fagioli, the bass Salvo Vitale and the two young German tenors Daniel Behle and Julian Prégardien. The variety of styles in Steffani's music continues to surprise. With 43 great tracks of enchanting early-baroque music this collection is set to be another revelation. "La Bartoli sings as enthrallingly as ever, and with this new CD reasserts her place as No.1 in the international diva firmament" - Financial Times Germany on Mission. "Superbly conducted by Diego Fasolis, these artists make the best case imaginable for Steffani's music . . . Color and texture reign supreme, with instrumental combinations chosen to highlight the overtones in Bartoli's voice . . . Given the quality of Steffani's music, Bartoli's project might best be regarded as "Mission Triumphant" - San Francisco Classical Voice on Mission.
