Classic Sinatra (UK-import)
Collection of three classic films starring Frank Sinatra. In 'The Man With the Golden Arm' (1955) Sinatra is Frankie Machine, a poker dealer who is trying to kick his drug addiction and start a new life as a jazz drummer. He wants to earn enough money to find a cure for his wheelchair bound wife Zosh (Eleanor Parker), but is tempted away from his marital duties by his enigmatic neighbour (Kim Novak). In 'Suddenly!' (1954) Sinatra stars as sadistic psychopath John Baron. Baron and his gang lay siege to a family's house in California so that they are in a position to assassinate the US President when his train stops at the station below. Despite Baron's psychotic intimidation of them, however, the family strive to foil the assassination attempt. 'Till the Clouds Roll By' (1946) is a biopic about composer Jerome Kern. Starting out as a penniless composer, Kern (Robert Walker) finds early success after moving to England. It is there that he meets his future wife, but his return to America is followed by a fallow period, which only ends when he begins a successful collaboration with Oscar Hammerstein II (Paul Langton). Sinatra stars in a cameo role as himself. The collection also includes 17 audio-visual performances from throughout Sinatra's career. The performances are: 'Stardust', 'Ol' Man River', 'When You're Smiling', 'I'll Never Smile Again', 'Last Night When We Were Young', 'Witchcraft', 'High Hopes', 'Gone With the Wind', 'Too Marvelous for Words', 'I See Your Face Before Me', 'Talk to Me', 'Hello Young Lovers', 'Luck Be a Lady', 'Angel Eyes', 'That Old Black Magic', 'Love Makes Me Feel So Young' and 'For Somebody Else'.
