Come Drink With Me (1966) / Da Zui Xia (UK-import)
Pei-Pei Cheng stars as Golden Swallow in this influential 1966 martial arts epic by pioneering director King Hu, which was one of the first films of the genre to feature a woman fighter in the lead role. Set in 19th-century China (and featuring an uncredited cameo appearance by a very young Jackie Chan), the film depicts a heroine battling to rescue her brother from a band of kidnappers in a role that helped pave the way for later films such as Quentin Tarantino's 'Kill Bill'. Hua Yueh co-stars in the obligatory kung-fu-master-disguised-as-beggar role.
