Jane Fonda is a Montana ranch owner locked in battle with her cousin (Jason Robards), a cattle baron determined to take her land. She enlists the help of a neighbour (James Caan), and together they struggle to pay off their debts and overcome the advances of big business. A tense, low-key western, set in the 1940s, and directed by Alan J. Pakula ('The Parallax View', 'The Pelican Brief').
