Roman Polanski directs this psychological thriller starring Sigourney Weaver and Ben Kingsley. Paulina Escobar (Weaver), a former political prisoner, learns that her husband Gerardo (Stuart Wilson) has been appointed head of a commission investigating human rights violations by the country's previous administration. When Gerardo has a chance encounter with neighbour Roberto Miranda (Kingsley), Paulina thinks she recognizes him as the man who tortured and raped her when she was a prisoner. Determined to exact a confession from Miranda, she holds him captive and places him on trial.
