Die Beitrage widmen sich aus internationaler Perspektive zentralen Texten im Werk von Erich Maria Remarque und ihrer Rezeption: Neben Analysen der Motive und Erzahlstruktur von Remarques Werk stehen zentrale Berichte uber die Rezeption und Ubersetzungsgeschichte in Katalonien und Russland im Fokus. Ausserdem wird erstmals Lewis Milestones Verfilmung des Romans Arc de Triomphe aus dem Jahr 1948 untersucht. Weiter geht es um die Jugendbucher von Michael Morpurgo zum Ersten Weltkrieg. Ein umfangreicher Ruckblick auf die internationalen Erstausgaben und Neuubersetzungen der Werke Remarques rundet den Band ab. These chapters address central passages in the work of Erich Maria Remarque and their reception from an international perspective: in addition to analyses of Remarque's motifs and narrative structure, reports on the reception and translation history of his writings in Catalonia and Russia fall into our line of focus. Moreover, Lewis Milestone's film adaptation of the novel 'Arc de Triomphe' from the year 1948 will be examined for the first time. The analysis will then move on to look at the teen books of Michael Morpurgo on the First World War, and, finally, an extensive review of the international first editions and new translations of Remarque's works will round off this volume.
