Although producer/songwriter NORMAN PETTY's name perhaps remains synonymous with Buddy Holly & The Crickets, he also worked with plenty of other great artists, notably Roy Orbison & The Teen Kings, Buddy Knox, Jimmy Bowen, Carolyn Hester, Sonny Curtis, Jimmy Gilmer, The Fireballs, The String-A-Longs, The Champs, and a young Bobby Fuller. All these and many more are featured in this carefully-compiled 36-track collection of Petty's productions, between 1956-62, which also includes tracks by rather lesser-known, cult collectors' artists like Sonee West, Terry Noland, Peanuts Wilson, Earl Henry, The Nighthawks, Jack & Jim, Myron Lee & The Caddies, Larry Trider, The Hollyhawks, etc. Also included is Buddy Britten & The Regents' celebrated cover of Terry Noland's 'Long Gone Baby', which Petty recorded in London, for Pye Records, in 1962.
