The recordings of Grant Green are sought after and this album is no exception. Presenting six quite varied tracks where the moods and playing styles shift effectively, supported by Ben Dixon on Drums and Organist Baby Face Willette it crosses genres from Jazz and Blues to R’n’B. The critic Dave Hunter retrospectively described Green’s playing as ‘lithe and lose’, and by 1962 he was presented with the ‘Best New Star’ award by the famed Downbeat Magazine.
