Thee Oh Sees frontman John Dweyer came to prominance via West Coast cult bands such as Hospitals, Pink & Brown, and the Coachwhips. While all those bands contained an undeniable ferocity and trashy aggressiveness, they never achieved much in the way of tunesmithery. Enter Thee Oh Sees, Dweyer's expirmentally tinged garage-psych outfit. On this second official full-length and first for In The Red Records, Dweyer builds on the alien freak beat hinted at on IN THE MASTER'S BEDROOM. While the album is certainly built on a familiar groovy garage stomp, there's something clearly askew about Dwyer's approach to the style. It makes for a nice listen, but one that will keep listeners firmly on their toes.
