Collection of four classic features starring James Cagney. In 'The Public Enemy' (1931) two boys, Tom Powers (Cagney) and Matt Doyle (Edward Woods), graduate from the slums to petty crime and eventually gangsterhood while a mob war brews on the streets of Chicago. 'White Heat' (1949) follows Cody Jarrett (Cagney) as he leads his gang to a mountain hideaway after a mail coach robbery ends with four men dead. While they are being pursued and mobster Big Ed (Steve Cochran) is after control of the gang, Cody remains fixated on the well-being of his beloved mother. In 'The Roaring Twenties' (1939) a trio of men, having fought together in the First World War, return to America and try to make a living in the midst of the prohibition era. Finally, 'The Fighting 69th' (1940) is set in the trenches of World War I following the famous 69th Irish regiment of Rainbow Division. Jerry Plunkett (Cagney) is a brash new recruit whose rebelliousness causes tragedy but he discovers his patriotism after being given a second chance.
