La Reine Morte: Ballet Du Capitole (UK-import)
Koen Kessels conducts the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse in this live recording of Belabi's tragic ballet performed at the Théâtre du Capitole in January 2015. Set to compositions by Tchaikovksy and loosely based on the play by Montherlant, the story follows the Prince of Portugal Don Pedro (Davit Galstyan) who falls in love with his intended wife's lady-in-waiting, Dona Ines de Castro (Maria Gutierrez). To the disdain of the King, the lovers marry in secret, but soon their happiness begins to unravel. The unfortunate events as they unfold are interspersed with dream-like sequences of the life the couple had envisioned for themselves.
