Documentary about life in Britain during the Second World War. With archive footage and accounts from those who lived through the war, the programme looks at the most trying times for Britain as, after the harshest attack by the Luftwaffe on London in May 1941 which destroyed the House of Commons and defeats suffered in Europe, the people began to lose hope. After victory in El Alamein in 1942, however, the country began to grow confident once more.
