Although they invariably get filed under "One Hit Wonders", The Elegants - an excellent white Doo-Wop quintet from Staten Island, New York - actually charted two further titles, 'Please Believe Me' and 'Goodnight', in addition to their chart-topping, multi-million-selling 'Little Star', back in 1958. They were a vastly underrated vocal group; lead singer Vito Picone - who was still in his teens when he cut most of these sides - possessed a strong, mellifluous voice, and this is a remarkably strong body of work. This compilation sweeps up virtually everything they recorded between 1958-62, across five different record labels; Apt, Hull, United Artists, ABC-Paramount and Photo. Also included as bonus tracks are both sides of an earlier 45 which they recorded as 'Pat Cordel & The Crescents', in 1956. This is the first wholly comprehensive Elegants compilation and sides like 'I'd Still Be Waiting', 'Rain, Rain Go Away', 'All Of A Sudden', 'Dressin' Up' and 'A Dream Can Come True' have not previously appeared on CD.
