'Madama Butterfly' was attacked by the critics after its premiere, and was immediately withdrawn from performance by Puccini. Three months later it reappeared in a much revised form and has since become one of the world's favourite operas. This version, from the Arena di Verona, is headed by an international cast, including Raina Kabaivanska.
