German Second World War drama. In 1944, German Lena Gräfin von Mahlenberg (Maria Furtwängler) returns to her ancestral home with her daughter, Vicky (Stella Kunkat), to visit her terminally ill father, Count Berthold Graf von Mahlenberg (Jürgen Hentsch) in East Prussia. As the Soviet Red Army advances from the east, Lena leads her community in their desperate attempt to evacuate.
