‘…meanwhile’ is the fifth studio album from British singer-songwriter Jon Allen and the follow up of ‘Blue Flame’ that was released in 2018. It is in many aspects a different album then we are used from Jon. For instance, he produced this record all by himself and recored it in his home studio in London. ‘’Maybe producing was something I always had in me, but under the current circumstances I was forced to do it. And it felt great! It has been three years since my last record and so much has changed. When change happens, you have the opportunity to evaluate yourself. During corona it seemed like people that I knew slowly became strangers’ His new album is about everything that happens ‘in the spaces between’. Because even if the world seems to stand still, everything is still moving. In the meanwhile, everything keeps on going. With his whiskey soaked voice and a pedigree as a songwriter of 4 studio albums to date; Jon was discovered by legendary guitarist Mark Knopfler who heard him singing at a party in West London. He subsequently toured with the guitar icon supporting him at Wembley Arena and on the rest of the European leg of the ‘All The Road Runners’ tour with Emmy Lou Harris. Mark Knopfler also played guitar and sang on his song ‘Sarah’ that appears on his debut album ‘Dead Man’s Suit’ More success came for Jon when his song ‘Going Home’ was chosen for a worldwide TV advert for a well known four-wheel drive vehicle. In the wake of this Jon signed a distribution deal for his first album with UK Label Absolute who have since released all his future output. In the last ten years Jon has carved out a niche as a recording artist and live performer supporting such acts as Damien Rice, Brian May, Seal and Dionne Warwick whom he supported at the Albert Hall. His songs and distinctive voice can be heard across films and TV both here and in America. In the UK he has appeared on the iconic Later With Jools Holland TV show and as part of the BBC’s coverage of Glastonbury. When not working on his own material Jon has written songs for Petula Clarke, Engelbert Humperdinck and Record producer Guy Chambers.
