American romantic comedy written and directed by Albert Brooks who also stars as restless film editor Robert Cole who consistently breaks up and reconciles with his girlfriend, Mary (Kathryn Harrold). When constant fighting begins to take its toll on Robert he decides to call off their relationship for good and the couple go their separate ways. But when loneliness begins to set in and the lure of single life loses its appeal, Robert begins to question if he really can live without Mary and if they can somehow set aside their differences and make it work.
