Mohsen Makhmalbaf: The Poetic Trilogy (UK-import)
Collection of three films from Iranian film-maker Mohsen Makhmalbaf. 'Gabbeh' (1996) follows a young woman from a nomadic tribe of rug-makers who is forbidden to leave the tribe to be with the man she loves. In 'The Silence' (1998) blind ten-year-old Khorshid (Tahmineh Normatova) is employed as an instrument tuner at a local music shop due to his exceptional sense of hearing. However, Khorshid's enhanced senses often make him late for work as he regularly becomes distracted by the world around him. Finally, in the documentary 'The Gardner' (2012) Makhmalbaf heads to Israel to find out more about the religion Baha'i.
