Myrthen - Works By Schumann / Camilla Tilling / Gerold Huber
Myrthen is the second chapter of Christian Gerhaher’s project to record all Schumann’s songs. A long-cherished dream and “probably the most important project of my entire life”. Since Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau’s pioneering recording of the 1970s no other singer has devoted himself so comprehensively to Robert Schumann’s complete lieder output. The song cycle Myrthen is Schumann’s most comprehensive Lied opus and follows the highly praised first recording 'Frage'. Schumann devoted his song cycle "Myrthen" to his wife Clara Schumann and gave it to her as a present on their wedding day. The project is co-produced by the Bayerischer Rundfunk and the Deutsches Liedzentrum Heidelberg. The complete cycle will include his long-time collaborator and pianist: Gerold Huber and fellow singers.
