Alan Bleasdale pens this dark comedy set in Liverpool. As a parting shot, a retiring Liverpool nightclub manager plays a cruel prank on his successor by booking two groups of pensioners - one Catholic and one Protestant - into the same bar room on the same night. When the new manager, Mike (Michael Angelis), walks into this explosive situation, he must pull out all the stops to keep the peace. Joanne Whalley and Bernard Hill co-star, while pop star Elvis Costello makes a cameo appearance as an inept magician.
