When Nellie (Baker)'s father becomes too poorly to run his pub in Chelsea anymore, he enlists the help of his middle-aged daughter. Nellie however is teetotal and quite unimpressed at the prospect of managing a pub. She does her best to keep her patrons in order, but Nellie is in for a task more demanding than even she had anticipated.
