'Pearl' is Janis Joplin's 4th album and was released on February 1st 1971, just 4 months after her fatal overdose and the first album with new backing band Full Tilt Boogie. Albeit more polished then her previous records, producer Paul A.Rothchild (The Doors) and Janis were able to craft an album showcasing Janis' extraordinary vocal talents. "Buried Alive in the Blues" is an instrumental track, due to the fact that Janis died before the vocals could be recorded. The Kris Kristofferson penned "Me and Bobby McGhee" and "Mercedes Benz" became world wide chartbusters.
