A DATING GUIDE FOR ORIGINAL PROGRESSIVE U.K. VINYL RECORDS

Do you collect original UK vinyl records? Do you hunt for progressive acts from the '60s or '70s?
Spending money on mint records on legendary labels such as Deram, Harvest or Regal Zonophone? Then this is indeed the book for you...

Labelography Volume 2 is the second book from well-respected researcher Jan Pettersson who earned lots of appreciation with his debut book, 'Labelography - The Major U.K. Record Labels', covering the seven U.K. major record labels and their original pressings. This, his second book, continues in the same style and ambition but now in glorious colour.

It covers all singles, EPs and LPs from the very start in 1966 up until 1980 for Deram, Harvest and Regal Zonophone, three of the most important British progressive record labels - all with names that make us serious record collectors shiver with excitement...

To ensure a collectable record´s value, it is important to have it in mint condition, but if it´s also a verified first pressing it will more likely hold or increase its value over time. Usually sellers of original records claim that their records are first pressings without having any kind of proof. Finally, now you don't have to guess anymore, you can just compare your copy with the hundreds of colour reference pictures of labels and covers, and find out if you have an original pressing or not.

The LP chapters include incredibly detailed information about each LP: label version, type of cover, type of inner sleeve, inserts, matrix numbers and also the value of the record. There are also feature pages for 'special' LPs that for example include posters or have gimmick covers. The chapters about singles include information about the record labels and the paper sleeves.

Labelography Volume 2 is not written about any specific artists, it's written about the record labels which means that any artist or record on the three labels are all covered here in one single book.

This meticulously researched book is intended as a field guide and should be as essential to bring to a record shop or a record fair as a book about birds when you go out bird watching. It's also an essential tool when buying or selling rare progressive records on eBay or other internet sites.

Fully illustrated in colour. 320 pages.
