Bitten by a rabid dog in a small Mexican town, Dr. Reuben (Glenn Ford) only has 48 hours to make it to a hospital in Buenavista. Joined by a working girl (Stella Stevens) and a construction worker (David Reynoso), Reuben makes an urgent journey across a barren desert while also coming to grips with the overwhelming guilt he feels over the deaths of his wife and newborn baby during childbirth.
