Robots/Ice Age/Garfield: The Movie (UK-import)
Triple bill of animated and CGI-animated family films. In 'Robots' (2005) Rodney Copperbottom (voice of Ewan McGregor) is a small-town robot who has a gift for inventing things and a hope of moving beyond his quaint surroundings. Rodney has dreams of something greater, and armed with his unique talent for inventing, he embarks on a journey to Robot City to meet his idol, the majestic inventor Bigweld (Mel Brooks). Bigweld has spent a lifetime creating things to make the lives of robots better. Once in Robot City, Rodney finds that things are not quite as he expected, and his quest may be a lot harder than he imagined. In 'Ice Age' (2002), at the dawn of the great ice age, a group of three animals embark upon an epic journey. Sid the sloth (voice of John Leguizamo), Manfred the mammal (Ray Romano), and Diego the sabre-toothed tiger (Denis Leary) team up to help return a human baby to its father, and must risk life and limb as they traverse boiling lava pits and travel through dangerous ice caves to complete their mission. Along the way they also meet Scrat (Chris Wedge), a squirrel-rat determined to plant an acorn in a glacier. Finally, in 'Garfield - The Movie' (2004), Jim Davis's self-centered, lasagne-loving cat comes to the big screen. Jon Arbuckle (Breckin Meyer) and his pet cat Garfield (voice of Bill Murray) live in harmony together - until Jon introduces a new member to the family: Odie the loveable pooch. Jon adores Odie, not least because having two pets means twice as many trips to visit the the vet, Dr Liz Wilson (Jennifer Love Hewitt), with whom he is totally besotted. But Garfield is less keen, and orchestrates a 'dognapping' that he hopes should get rid of his rival once and for all.
