San Francisco Shootout - The Classic Winterland Broadcast
SUPERB LIVE RECORDING FROM TRAFFIC’S 1973 US TOUR. Traffic‘s sixth studio album, “Shoot Out” at the Fantasy Factory, released in February 1973, met with a mixed critical reception upon its release, but sales-wise it was another major hit for the group in the US. It was shortly followed by a major world tour, during which the poorly received double live album, “On the Road”, was recorded at a show in Germany. Shoot Out broke the band’s string of British flops however, by reaching number 40 on the UK Albums Chart. Traffic played 27 concerts in the USA during January and February of ’73 to promote the new record, and the shows were some of the most popular that the band ever performed. Generally considered the finest gig of the US tour however was their performance at Bill Graham’s Winterland venue in San-Francisco, where Traffic put on an extraordinary show which was recorded for live FM broadcast along the west coast. The concert broadcast has now been fully restored and remastered and is available on this new CD, allowing fans of this legendary group to both hear, and indeed own, this remarkable recording.
