Sherlock Holmes: Pursuit To Algiers/The Woman In Green (UK-import)
Double feature starring Basil Rathbone as detective Sherlock Holmes. 'Pursuit to Algiers' (1945) is Rathbone's 12th outing as the master detective. When the King of Rovenia is assassinated, Holmes is hired to accompany Nicholas, the heir to that country's throne, on his journey back home. Travelling by ocean liner to Algiers, Holmes and Watson (Nigel Bruce) take on a series of assassins and kidnappers as they fight to keep their young charge from suffering any harm. In 'The Woman in Green' (1945), Holmes and Dr Watson are called in to help solve a series of mysterious murders in which the victims are left without their right forefingers. The infallible twosome discover a link between a female hypnotist and a blackmail venture, which leads them inevitably to Holmes' arch-enemy, Moriarty (Henry Daniell).
