Silent Britain (UK-import)
Britain's silent film history is finally emerging from an era of neglect. As Matthew Sweet, writer and presenter of the programme, says, the silent era "is one of the most creative, extravagant, sensational and pleasurable periods of film production in this country." The film explores these pleasures by drawing extensively on the silent films held by the National Film and Television Archive, and through newly filmed interviews and visits to celebrated silent film locations from Brighton to Blackpool.
