Double bill of British crime thrillers. 'St George's Day' (2012) follows Mickey Mannock (Frank Harper) and Ray Collishaw (Craig Fairbrass), two major players in the London crime scene who are used to being in charge. However, when rough seas cause them to lose a boatload of the Russian mafia's cocaine, the pair's world is turned upside down and they find themselves in grave danger. The duo decide that the only way out of the situation is to pull off a daring diamond heist; no easy feat when the police and one of the world's most ruthless criminal organisations are on your tail. 'The Fall of the Essex Boys' (2012) is based on the murder of three major Essex gangland figures in 1995. When the bullet-ridden corpses of Tony Tucker (Jay Brown), Patrick Tate (Peter Barrett) and Craig Rolfe (Simon Phillips) were discovered in a Range Rover in Rettendon, a major criminal investigation was launched to find the culprits. Though the trio's one-time associates Jack Whomes (Tony Denham) and Michael Steele (Robert Cavanah) were ultimately convicted of the crime, it was primarily on the evidence provided by another ex-associate Darren Nicholls (Nick Nevern), labelled by some as a 'supergrass' and whose evidence was called into question.
