Documentary directed by Owen Gower about the British Miners' Strike of 1984. The film tells the story of how the National Union of Mineworkers began their strike in response to Margaret Thatcher's government's intentions of closing down 20 coal mines. The film-maker speaks to those who stood on the picket lines and gains new insight, through the use of archive and never-before-seen footage, into the year-long action which was to be ultimately unsuccessful and which resulted in a weakening of the trade unions.
