Naomi Kawase co-writes and directs this Japanese drama starring Kirin Kiki and Masatoshi Nagase. After putting up an advert for a co-worker, street food vendor Sentaro (Nagase) is confronted at his dorayaki stall by an elderly woman named Tokue (Kiki) who would like the job. He initially rejects her offer, fearing it would be too much for the 76-year-old's frail hands, but he is forced to reconsider when he discovers her skill in making a beautiful sweet red bean paste filling for his dorayaki. Their union brings in increased custom and profit but unfortunately for them both only lasts the summer as Tokue's past cruelly comes back to haunt her. With Tokue forced to retreat from society once again, Sentaro is left alone to confront his own past indiscretions with a new outlook on life.
