Drama miniseries based on the novel by Armistead Maupin. Mary Ann Singleton (Laura Linney), a naive country girl, arrives in San Francisco in 1976, and receives a rude awakening to the rather more hectic pace of life in the big city when she moves into an apartment block owned by an exotic, free-thinking landlady (Olympia Dukakis).
