The Bible: Mary Magdalene (UK-import)
Made-for-TV dramatisation about the woman who, after falling on hard times, becomes a disciple of Jesus. After being cast out of her childless marriage, Mary Magdalene (Maria Grazia Cucinotta), meets a Roman prefect, Sylvano (Thure Riefenstein), who uses her to gain information on suspected subversive John the Baptist (Benjamin Sadler). But after Sylvano discovers her trying to save John's life, she is again cast out and, after a suicide attempt, finally resorts to prostitution. Her life changes, however, when, on taking a friend's dead son to Jesus of Nazareth (Danny Quinn), the boy is miraculously brought back to life, resulting in Mary becoming one of Jesus's disciples.
