Years previously crime scene investigator Barry Allen (Grant Gustin)'s mother was killed by a mysterious supernatural entity that he describes as lightning in the shape of a man. Nobody believes what he saw and his father was wrongly convicted of the crime. Ever since Barry has been looking for answers, hoping to prove his father's innocence. Nine months after being struck by lightning and covered in chemicals while in his laboratory Barry wakes up from a coma to find he has superhuman powers. He decides to use his new abilities to fight other superhumans created by the storm who are using their powers for evil.
