In the early 1970s, west Texas band The Flatlanders--driven by the trio of singer-songwriters Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Joe Ely, and Butch Hancock--released an 8-track that became legendary for both its scarcity and its authentic approach to traditional country music. Two decades and three solo careers later, the buried classic was reissued to great acclaim and reignited interest in the band, prompting a reunion that resulted in new material and concert tours. The reunited country music legends are captured live in this 2002 appearance on PBS' AUSTIN CITY LIMITS, performing songs such as "Wavin' My Heart Goodbye," "Down in the Light of the Melon Moon," "I Thought the Wreck Was Over," and many more. The television series' original half-hour episode has been expanded to include The Flatlanders' entire full-length performance for a thrilling, never-before-seen concert experience.
