The Geoff Holyoake Collection (UK-import)
Collection of documentaries about British steam locomotives and the railways they journeyed on in the 1960s. Passionate about the disappearing steam engines, Geoff Holyoake decided to film what he could before electric and modern diesel engines completely took over. 'Sixties Southern' covers the final days of the South Western Main Line of the Southern Region on which we see King Arthurs, Charlies and Bulleid Pacifics. 'Southern Region from East to West' covers the Eastern, Central and Western Divisions where we see M7s, Brighton 'Terriers', Radial tanks, and the Pacifics, Moguls and British Railways Standard classes. Finally, 'Western Region in the Sixties' looks at the lines in the West of Britain and documents the beginning of the preservation movement on the Great Western Railway.
