German expressionist silent drama starring Conrad Veidt. Following a serious railway accident concert pianist Paul Orlac loses his hands. With the help of his wife Yvonne (Alexandra Sorina) they manage to convince the surgeon to transplant another pair of hands onto Orlac. However, when he learns that the hands belonged to a murderer Orlac becomes convinced that the hands will act in nefarious ways against his will. Meanwhile, his inability to play music with the new hands result in him losing his income as a pianist.
