The Invisible Life Of Euridice Gusmao (UK-import)
Brazilian drama co-written and directed by Karim Aïnouz. In 1950s Rio de Janeiro, sisters Euridice and Guida Gusmao (Carol Duarte and Julia Stockler) dream of escaping the city in search of a better life. 18-year-old Euridice harbours hopes of studying music in Vienna while her older sister wants to find true love. When Guida returns to the family home after eloping to Greece with a sailor, the sisters are cruelly separated by their conservative father, Manuel (António Fonseca), who tells Guida that Euridice is living out her dream as a concert pianist in Vienna when she is in fact still in Brazil.
