The Mummy: Complete Legacy Collection (UK-import)
Collection of classic fantasy horror films. In 'The Mummy' (1932) the members of a 1921 archaeological expedition discover a sarcophagus in an unmarked grave. It contains the mummy of priest Imhotep (Boris Karloff), who was buried alive 3,700 years ago as a punishment for attempting to bring his former lover back to life. Now back from the dead, Imhotep adopts the garb of a modern Egyptian and goes in search of his former love, echoes of whose physical form he finds in expedition member Helen Grosvenor (Zita Johann). In 'The Mummy's Hand' (1940) thousands of years after ancient Egyptian high priest Kharis (Tom Tyler) was buried alive for attempting to revive his dead lover, adventurers Steve Banning (Dick Foran) and Babe Jenson (Wallace Ford) lead an expedition in search of Kharis's tomb. Accompanied by magician Solvani (Cecil Kellaway), his daughter Marta (Peggy Moran) and archaeologist Dr Petrie (Charles Trowbridge), the men penetrate the tomb unaware that the mummified Kharis is being kept alive by high priest Andoheb (George Zucco). In 'The Mummy's Tomb' (1942) 30 years after his tomb was desecrated by Steve Banning's expedition, the mummified Kharis (Lon Chaney Jr.) and high priest Andoheb travel to America to wreak revenge on Banning and his former partner Babe Hanson (Ford). In 'The Mummy's Ghost' (1944) Egyptian high priest Yousef Bey (John Carradine) sets out for America to reclaim the bodies of both Princess Ananka (Ramsay Ames) and her guardian mummy Kharis. Not long after arriving, Yousef discovers that Ananka's spirit has been reincarnated in a beautiful young woman of Egyptian descent, whom he determines to kidnap and make his own. However, in so doing he risks the wrath of the vengeful mummy. In 'The Mummy's Curse' (1944) after being buried for 25 years, the body of ancient Egyptian mummy Kharis is discovered by irrigation workers in Louisiana. Reviving once again, Kharis goes on another murderous rampage in search of the reincarnation of his mistress Princess Ananka (Virginia Christine). Finally, in 'Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy' (1955) friends Pete (Bud Abbott) and Freddie (Lou Costello) are in Egypt when they offer to help archaeologist Dr Gustav Zoomer (Kurt Katch) transport his newly-discovered mummy back to America. However, upon arrival at Zoomer's house the duo discover that the doctor has been murdered and the mummy has vanished. Their problems increase when they inherit a medallion which carries an ancient curse, and they soon find themselves doing battle with villainous treasure seekers while struggling to keep the mummy's existence under wraps.
