John Trengove directs this drama in which an unfulfilled factory worker named Xolani (Nakhane Touré) heads out to the Eastern Cape's mountains to assist in the initiation of teenage boys into manhood. Having experienced the initiation himself, he helps to bestow the boys with sacred and ancient rituals which will test their physical and emotional strength. But Xolani's own strength is tested when he uncovers his sexual desire for other men, in a culture in which the maintenance of masculinity is of the greatest obligation.
