Don Ameche plays an elderly Sicilian shoeshine man who is about to take the rap for a murder commited by a Mafia mobster. Joe Montegna is assigned to look after him and decides to allow him one last good time before his imprisoment by taking him on a trip to Lake Tahoe. However, when they return to Chicago a few unexpected changes have occured.
