Tosca: Metropolitan Opera (Sinopoli) (UK-import)
The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus perform Puccini's tragic tale of love, intrigue and betrayal in Napoleonic Rome, along with Hildegard Behrens, Placido Domingo, Cornell MacNeil, James Courtney, Italo Tajo, Anthony Laciura and Russell Christopher. In Rome, 1800, former consul Cesare Angelotti seeks refuge with the painter Cavaradossi in the Attavanti chapel. Cavaradossi's lover Tosca, however, believes that he has another woman, and betrays him and Angelotti to Baron Scarpia, the chief of police.
